The WisBlock Core RAK4631 Arduino EU433 is a highly integrated LPWAN module designed for long-range, low-power wireless applications.

At its heart is the Nordic nRF52840, a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller featuring 1 MB Flash memory, 256 KB RAM and integrated Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. Paired with the Semtech SX1262 LoRa transceiver, the module delivers excellent sensitivity, low power consumption and transmission power up to +22 dBm.

Compared with previous-generation SX127x devices, the SX1262 provides improved efficiency, extended range and a total link budget of up to 170 dB, making it ideal for remote monitoring, environmental sensing, smart agriculture, industrial IoT and smart city deployments.

The module includes a temperature-controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) for reliable operation across varying environmental conditions and bandwidth requirements.

When combined with a WisBlock Base Board, the RAK4631 can be expanded using a wide range of WisBlock sensors, interfaces and communication modules, allowing rapid development of custom IoT solutions.

This Arduino variant is supported by the Arduino IDE, PlatformIO and the RAKwireless Arduino BSP, making development straightforward for both beginners and experienced engineers.

The module is supplied with the Nordic bootloader and SoftDevice pre-installed, allowing immediate development and deployment.

Choosing the right frequency: The EU433 version is designed for applications using the 433 MHz LoRa band. While EU868 is the most commonly used LoRaWAN frequency plan in Europe, EU433 can be advantageous for specialist deployments where longer propagation characteristics or compatibility with existing 433 MHz infrastructure are required.

IDEAL FOR

  • Existing 433 MHz LoRa networks
  • EU433 LoRaWAN gateways and infrastructure
  • Long-range rural monitoring
  • Agricultural and environmental sensing
  • Remote telemetry applications
  • Battery and solar-powered sensor nodes
  • Industrial IoT deployments
  • Custom WisBlock solutions
